Howdy!
My name is Michael Rung, and I'm the designer and developer of PhotoPack Pro
I'm also a full-time nature and landscape photographer.
Over the years, I've used many tools - to do apps, spreadsheets, paper lists, and more - to help me prepare for photography outings, events, or trips, but they've all been imperfect solutions that weren't tailored specifically for photographers.
So, I decided to do something about it.
My Story
I bought my first "real" camera back in 2015, after a two-week business trip to northern Ireland ignited my interest in photography. As my skills grew, so too did my kit. Whether I was heading out to my local park, prepping for a commercial shoot, or hitting the road for a photography adventure, I was constantly worrying that I was forgetting something important.
And, far too often, I was.
I started out using a popular to do app, checking off items as I packed and then manually unchecking each item the next time I needed to review the list. Frustrated with that experience, I added tasks and items to pack to a spreadsheet so I could confirm I had everything I needed... but it still left me wanting.
After once again finding myself annoyed by imperfect solutions that weren't tailored for my needs, I sat down and started sketching out what my perfect solution would look like.
Soon, PhotoPack Pro was born.

My Goals for the App
Beyond providing a valuable solution for photographers, I had several key things I wanted to deliver with PhotoPack Pro:
-
Create unlimited event checklists
-
Utilize my nature photographer's default checklist or create your own
-
Set up your own custom default checklist to fit your specific needs
-
Receive reminders when a list isn't 100% complete before its start date
-
Mark items as High Priority
-
Know at a glance when a checklist or item category isn't 100% completed
-
Add notes to individual items and checklists
-
No subscription required - we all have too many recurring charges as it is!
I also built the app to put user privacy first: no personal data is collected, no data connection is needed, and everything is stored locally (although a future update is planned to add cloud backup).
